Portholes

Portholes is a multimedia project that seeks to examine and exhibit intimate relationships with nature. It was exhibited in an Artist in Residence Pop Up show at The Garage at Northwestern University in 2019.

Portholes consists of three rounded papier-mâché sculptures that have videos of bodies of water projected onto their surfaces. All footage was shot while I traveled as a tourist to places of natural beauty, including Niagara Falls, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Lake Michigan. Portholes was originally installed in a bedroom, as a unique way of bringing nature into an intimate space. However, I edited the video footage together using sharp lines to draw attention to the manmade nature of the views these "portholes" provide.
